• Sagamore is the most studied and carefully preserved “Great Camp.” It has an Historic Structures Report, Conservation Plan, Conservation Policy, Interpretive Plan, and a 42 page covenant attached to its deed. All repairs are accomplished in accordance with historic preservation standards. Other camps are owed by institutions or are privately held. They are not required to adhere to these same standards and can take buildings down, build new buildings, use aluminum siding, paint them chartreuse, etc. Sagamore will maintain its authenticity and become more important in the future as the one authentic Adirondack Camp.
